KUCHING: Graduates have been reminded to continue pursuing knowledge to ensure they have the relevant skills to fulfill demands of the current job market.

Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said, for instance, graduates with leadership skills and abilities in specific fields were at an advantage to land their dream job.

“This is why students at institutions of higher learning must be able to differentiate themselves from others to ensure their employment chances remain higher (than their competitors),” he said at i-System College convocation ceremony here yesterday.

Awang Tengah added that demand for skilled manpower in the state was on the rise.

“The current job market is influenced by the nation’s economic situation and in this sense workers need to be knowledgeable in technology as everything now relies on computers.”

Meanwhile, i-System principal Adrian Hon enthused that most of its diploma graduates were gainfully employed in private and government hospitals throughout the state.

“It is my wish for graduates who will receive their scroll today to follow the footsteps of their seniors by being employees who are disciplined and competitive.”

A total of 218 graduates received their scrolls yesterday.

As the only institution of higher learning to offer eight diploma programmes related to health, the college has also been acknowledged by the nursing examination board to have 100 per cent passing rate.
